SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 20, 2026 — Turing Labs today announced it has won the 2026 FoodTech AI Innovation Award from AgTech Breakthrough, recognizing the company’s work building domain-specific AI for food and beverage product development.

The award lands amid a reckoning over enterprise AI’s return on investment. An MIT study found that 95 percent of enterprise generative AI pilots fail to deliver measurable financial impact1, largely because general-purpose models aren’t built to reason through the tradeoffs specific to a given industry. In CPG R&D, those tradeoffs are unusually dense: a viable product has to satisfy ingredient chemistry, nutrition targets, regulatory limits, cost ceilings, manufacturing constraints, and consumer taste all at once, and get it right the first time on the plant floor.

Turing Labs built its platform for exactly that problem. Used by R&D teams inside Fortune 500 CPG enterprises, Turing’s AI reasons across ingredient behavior, nutrition, regulation, cost, and consumer appeal to help scientists move from concept to viable formulation faster than trial-and-error reformulation allows.

The deeper shift Turing points to is what happens after that first formulation. Every experiment run on the platform feeds back into it, so the system’s understanding of what works, and what fails, compounds with each product a team ships. For CPG companies facing tightening regulation, fast-moving consumer preferences, and private-label competitors closing the quality gap, that accumulated formulation intelligence is starting to function less like a tool and more like proprietary IP: a defensible asset specific to the company that built it, and hard for a competitor, or a general-purpose model, to replicate.

“Most leaders name organizational mindset as the biggest barrier to adopting AI, ahead of technology or cost. We see what that means in the CPG companies we work with: how quickly a leader approves a test, accepts a calculated risk, and lets the team learn,” said Manmit Shrimali, Founder and CEO of Turing Labs.
“The companies seeing the greatest benefits use what they already know to respond faster. An ingredient change becomes an opportunity to improve the recipe, lower its cost, or both. AI keeps getting better. How quickly leaders put it to work is what separates companies gaining ground from those still catching up.”
“Turing transforms R&D teams into innovation powerhouses. CPG R&D teams are operating in a demanding environment with regulatory pressure, shifting consumer tastes and private labels closing the quality gap. R&D scientists, regulators, and executives need platforms that are built from the inside out with domain depth, scientific precision, and explainability, not need more general-purpose tools retrofitted for food and agriculture,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, AgTech Breakthrough.
“Turing Labs provides a solution to these challenges. We’re awarding them with the ‘FoodTech AI Innovation Award’ for helping R&D teams to do more, faster, and with greater precision. Turing teams pick the right bets, perfect the formulation, and launch products that win at shelf.”

The AgTech Breakthrough Awards recognize the companies and technologies transforming how the world grows, manages, and produces food, from precision agriculture and yield forecasting to AI-driven product development.

Turing Labs’ platform is now in production inside R&D teams at some of the world’s largest CPG enterprises, in an enterprise AI market where most deployments never reach that stage.
